|  | | Vita Ethiopia – Crops and Livestock | | | In the highland areas around Arba Minch and Chencha Vita have been active in promoting horticulture crops such as vegetables and apple trees. Crops such as tomato, cabbage and potato are grown.
In Hammer area horticulture is promoted in areas were water is available for small scale irrigation.
In Shama (In Chencha) 200 households participated in highland fruit trees and vegetable production training and were supplied with 23 apple seedlings each. Sixty five local farmers earned 66,000 Birr from the supply of rootstock and grafted apple seedlings.
Local improved goats were provided to 33 households in Hammer along with a small Camel rearing project.
In Turmi town plans are underway to establish a livestock market to facilitate livestock trading.
Thirty people who are honey producers from 4 villages participated in beekeeping and management training. Beneficiaries made their own bee veils from locally available materials.
In Shama 20 beneficiaries were provided with training on sheep production and were provided with sheep – 2 ewes and 1 ram per beneficiary. | | | | | | | |
