|  | | Vita Eritrea – Water and Irrigation | | | | Water is a vitally precious resource for people in Eritrea and other countries in the Greater Horn of Africa. | | | | | | Water for the Community | | | | Vita is supporting the provision of water for communities in Hagaz Sub Region through the identification of water sites and engineering design for these sites. In Hamelmalo Vita is involved in micro dam design and supervision (Gadm Humber Kebabi). In Gizgiza in 2008 a well was fully rehabilitated and a hand pump installed. In Debub region Vita are involved in supporting the development of groundwater recharging structures and the rehabilitation point of existing water points which have become silted. | | | | | | Water for Livestock | | | | Vita are involved in pond construction and rehabilitation for the provision of water for livestock. Recent examples are Wonjeb pond in Adi Arey Kebabi, Hagaz sub region of Anseba and Koret Kejar in Ashera Kebabi. | | | | | | Water for Irrigation | | | | In Debub region at Adi Quala a community pressurised drip irrigation system is currently being installed with Vita support. | | | | | | | |
