 | | Aim | | | The central aim of Vita’s Sustainable Livelihoods for Communities Programme in Hamelmalo is to improve the lives of people in rural areas affected by poverty and drought.
The programme focuses on highly vulnerable communities living in very dry regions who are affected by poverty and malnutrition.

There are three objectives:
| | |  | to gain more secure access to, and better management of natural resources. Through this the partner community will participate in building a dam to provide water to 545 families and their livestock, and through the building of ponds and tree planting |
| | to contribute to reducing poverty and hunger, especially in female-headed households, through training, awareness raising and improved nutrition and health

| | to establish participatory planning, development and resource management for the 3 communities |

| The partner communities have had a high degree of participation in formulating this programme |
