2009 Flora Women’s Mini Marathon – Become a Vita Volunteer!

Thank you to the participants of the mini marathon!

Walk, jog or run for Vita on the 1st June 2009 … and make a lasting positive change in the living conditions of poor and marginalised people in our priority countries of Ethiopia, Eritrea and Kenya.

Starting in Dublin City, at 3pm, over a distance of 10K (6.2 miles) through South Dublin, the Flora Women’s Mini Marathon is a fantastic day out and a fantastic way to raise much needed funds for Vita.

Sponsored by the Evening Herald and Tesco Ireland the Mini Marathon has become a major fixture in Ireland's annual sporting calendar. This event is unique in its appeal to walkers and runners alike.

If you wish to participate in the marathon please note that you must officially register first with the "Women's Mini Marathon". All potential participants must enter on the official entry form which will appear in the Evening Herald every Thursday from the 28th February 2008.

Entry is also available online form on www.florawomensminimarathon.ie. The closing date for all entries is Tuesday 21st April 2008 or when maximum number of entries is reached.

PLEASE ENSURE YOU ENTER EARLY AS LAST YEAR SOME ENTRANTS WERE DISAPPOINTED. CLOSING DATE IS 21st APRIL.
Once you are registered you will be able to run for Vita. Please contact Jenny Douglas on 01 8820108 or email info@vita.ie for free sponsorship cards and t-shirts, advice on training etc. Further information on this year's event can be found on the official mini marathon website www.florawomensminimarathon.ie.

You can download the Vita Mini Marathon poster here. Please put the poster up wherever you and your friends can to encourage people, friends work colleagues to walk, jog or run for Vita on the 1st of June.

What your funds will do.

For about €10 we can plant enough Miracle Trees to sustain the needs of an entire family

For €40 we can provide a family with a Fuel Efficient Stove. These have less firewood usage, less smoke and a reduction in respiratory diseases and other health risks.

For €80 we can provide new solid doors and windows for a house

For €120 we can provide new and secure roofing material for a house

For €195 we can provide a community with a necessary Community Sanitation Seminar - these have been shown to be a very powerful tool to empower communities to lead the fight against poverty in their local areas.

For €495 we can build a new house for an entire family.

Guide to sending funds.

Keep track of the money you collect. If you are collecting money on the day, please ensure that it is collected and stored securely at all times. If you are carrying cash, consider your personal safety and be accompanied by another person if possible. At the end of the event two people should count the money and store it securely.

Once all the money has been collected please remember to fill out one of our Fund Forms. This is vital as it allows us to record what money each fundraiser has raised for us.

Unfortunately we cannot accept large amounts of cash. If you have collected cash, we would be grateful if you could make a cheque / bank draft / postal order of the same value payable to Vita. Alternatively you can provide us with credit or laser card details. Whichever method used please make sure to send your Fund Form by post, email or fax.

If these methods of payment do not suit please do not hesitate to contact us in the Vita fundraising department on 01 8820108/9 or info@vita.ie where we can come to an arrangement.
