| | November 2008 | | | | | | | | Vita Building on its Dundalk Roots - A Call to Action for Vita Volunteers |
Vita – formerly Refugee Trust – is planning to build a network of volunteers in the Dundalk area. Vita was established in 1989 by Frs Norman Fitzgerald and Kevin Doheny. Dundalk has always shown strong support for Vita’s work and the Vita charity shop located on Church Street. With this is mind, the charity is now planning to build on its roots in Dundalk and establish a volunteer network in the area that will help fundraise for Vita’s projects. Vita partners with communities in Ethiopia, Eritrea and Kenya to build sustainable livelihoods and to make a real impact in poverty reduction and environmental renewal.
There will be a meeting in St. Gerard’s Hall beside the Redemptorist Church on Tuesday December 2nd at 7pm. Vita’s Chief Executive, John Weakliam will make a short presentation outlining Vita’s work and how a volunteer network can support this work. All are welcome and light refreshments will be served. For more information on the event, please call Bernadette McKenna at 01-882 0108.
