| | October 2006 | | | | | | | Vita launches ‘Trees for Life’ Campaign
Buy an Oak Tree this Christmas and help struggling families in the horn of Africa
| | | Tuesday 7th November 2006, (tbc): Vita, formerly know as Refugee Trust International, today launched the ‘Trees for Life’ campaign. ‘Trees for Life’ is a new and novel gift scheme, whereby people can purchase an oak tree for €100, which will then be planted in Marlay Park, Rathfarnham, Dublin. The trees will be numbered and registered with both the giver's and recipient’s name. For every oak tree purchased, 90 Moringa Trees will be planted in Eritrea and Ethiopia, making ‘Trees for Life’ the perfect gift option for Christmas, birthdays and special occasions.
The ‘Trees for Life’ campaign allows Irish people to give the gift of life to families in Eritrea and Ethiopia. This gift campaign will have a huge and lasting impact on the lives of many families struggling to cope with starvation. The Moringa Tree is one of the keys to ending hunger and malnutrition in many parts of the world affected by poverty, drought, disease and starvation. It is widely hailed as the world’s most useful tree. Every single part of it can be used for fuel, food and medicine. The ownership of a Moringa tree really can make an enormous difference to a family’s livelihood.
John Wallace Chief Executive, Vita says: The “Tree’s for Life” campaign is the perfect way to purchase a more meaningful gift this Christmas. In an ever-growing consumerist society it is important to remember that there are still people starving in the world. This campaign offers everyone a chance to make a real difference to other people’s lives while purchasing a unique and interesting gift in the process”
