Christmas Tree & Dinner Appeal

A Christmas Message

Christmas is a special time for families. It is a time for giving. Mother Teresa, Vita Founding Patron, understood the power of giving to people in need, helping them to become self-sufficient. Vita’s Founders
Fr Kevin Doheny and Fr Norman Fitzgerald continued this legacy.

For over 20 years Vita has supported vulnerable families around the world -particularly in Africa. At a time when we are buying festive trees and food, many families in Ethiopia and Eritrea are blighted by hunger. You can help them by providing the gift of the nutritious Irish Spud or Moringa trees.

About the Moringa “Miracle” Tree

The Moringa tree is called “Miracle Tree” in
many languages because of its numerous,
valuable uses.

Modern science is proving that
these tiny leaves are packed with incredible
nutrition and contain

• Twice the amount of protein as yoghurt.
• Four times more calcium than milk.
• Seven times more vitamins than oranges.
• Three times more potassium than bananas.

What Vita is doing

Providing the Irish potato seeds in Ethiopia,
planting “Miracle” Moringa trees or building fuel
efficient stoves in Eritrea are some of the many
ways Vita’s projects help many thousands of
families.

Vita’s Christmas Wish - For rural families in Africa to enjoy sustainable livelihoods, free from risk of famine and aid dependency
What Vita is doing

Their trees will be for life, not just for the
12 days of Christmas. A Christmas gift
of trees and/or potato seeds to
a family is a gift for life. You are giving these
families the means to provide vital nutrition for
their children. Your Christmas present will
enable them to survive, to grow their own food
and help them sustain their livelihoods.
About Vita

Vita is an Irish registered charity working in
Africa since 1989. Vita works directly with
communities in Ethiopia and Eritrea to support
them in their fight against hunger and climate
change, leading to their own sustainable
development.

€70 for Spud Appeal
€70 will provide 2 bags of Irish potato seeds for one family

With your help, we can provide families with improved seed potatoes, irrigation and training to grow food for life.

€40 for Moringa Miracle tree
€40 will help families overcome poor health and malnutrition

A Christmas gift of Moringa trees to a family means more than just trees - it is the gift of life. You are giving these families the means to provide vital nutrition for their children.

€20 per month...
€150 per month will help families like Caleb’s to benefit from Vita’s Income Generation Support

Caleb (17), pictured left, and his sister Eunice (16), were determined to keep their younger brothers and sisters together after their parents died of AIDS.
This was possible through Vita’s Income Generation support. They rise early, Eunice makes doughnuts and Caleb takes them on his bicycle to sell in nearby small kiosks, before they all go to school. Caleb also plants corn and beans in their small plot of land. They have been able to buy blankets and food for themselves and their younger brothers and sisters and they continue to live as a family.
